ABOUT THE CLIENT

Papaya Films is a Polish video production company. It specializes in producing commercials, content, music videos, films and opening credits for movies, series, computer game graphics, live sessions, and photo shoots for advertising agencies and direct clients.

It represents several dozen directors, cinematographers, and photographers in Poland and worldwide through its own talent management agency.

The company’s ambition is to transform the film, advertising, and media industry by creating authentic, dynamic stories that have deeper meaning.

CHALLENGES AND NEEDS

Collaboration with Scaleup began in November 2021. We met during a reputational crisis at Papaya Films. The client was looking for a trusted, experienced partner who would examine cultural phenomena, identify areas requiring improvement or development, propose a systematic action plan, and implement selected support projects in close cooperation with the HR department.

The program’s goal was to improve overall employee experience at the company and develop communication, collaboration, and teamwork.

Maciek was chosen for his unique combination of years of business experience with diverse people-working techniques – coaching, workshop facilitation, training, and Gestalt psychotherapy, which provides tools for systematic organizational work and ensures psychological safety for participants.

SCOPE OF SUPPORT

During the collaboration, Maciej:

  • Proposed and conducted a dedicated organizational culture study combining surveys, interviews, and work observations, identified areas requiring change or development, proposed specific company-wide interventions, and then developed a systematic action plan with the client,
  • Trained the entire company in selected communication skills and relationship-building techniques,
  • Facilitated workshops for the board and company owners,
  • Facilitated a series of cultural workshops aimed at developing solutions for the organization,
  • Asked difficult strategic and leadership questions that encouraged deep self-reflection,
  • Equipped company managers with advanced, practical leadership and communication techniques through a 6-month Relational Leadership program,
  • Equipped producers and coordinators with effective techniques for building relationships with corporate clients, managing B2B relationships, and acquiring new projects through a 5-month Sales Excellence program,
  • Regularly supported the HR department with change management techniques, supervisory consultations, cultural observations, and guidance for further development work with individual producers, teams, and the entire organizational culture,
  • Individually supported producers in executive/business/life coaching sessions.

According to the client, Maciej is characterized by deep business understanding, high engagement, and authentic desire to understand the specifics of a given organizational culture. His enthusiasm and passion for working with people are contagious and encourage trying out his proposed communication and collaboration methods.

Additionally, Papaya Films appreciated Maciek’s systematic and process-oriented approach – the fact that he adapts his working methods and types of interventions to the organization’s needs and constantly has a great feel for the organization’s pulse, its developmental moment, and needs.

RESULTS

As a result of collaboration with Maciej, company employees:

  • See themselves more as people than just business roles and functions,
  • Communicate better within project teams and between them,
  • Ask themselves more difficult questions and listen to themselves better,
  • More frequently and maturely discuss their emotions, needs, problems, and limitations,
  • More often discuss successes and failures together to draw conclusions for everyone,
  • Started giving each other more feedback and talking about difficult topics more often,
  • Identify important topics requiring attention and action more quickly,
  • Grew closer to each other, noticing the strength of the team and group at every step,
  • Support each other better within teams and between them, take better care of their mental health,
  • Increase the level of partnership in collaboration with clients and partners,
  • Implemented methodologies for systematic work with corporate clients,
  • Systematized processes for acquiring new projects,
  • Better understand the hidden meanings of emotions,
  • Act not only effectively, but also more strategically and with greater self-respect.


The above changes positively influenced the company’s business growth and enabled team-based, more conscious strategic decision-making related to the company’s long-term development.
